Christmas cards 2018
Our first screen print in the new studio
It was the end of November, we’d just got into our new studio (shed!) and were dying to use the space for what we set out to do — get creative! It was the ideal time to design and make some Christmas cards to send out to friends, family and recent clients.
We wanted to experiment with screen printing, and now we had enough space to dust off the old screens and start playing! I’d received a screen printing kit for my birthday a few years back and had a dabble, but never had the space to really experiment.
We both drew out lots of designs and discussed what we wanted to achieve and finally decided on a simple hand drawn wreath design. I painted the final design with drawing fluid directly onto the screen (tracing my original drawings) then once it had dried, we filled the screen with screen filler and washed it out – Bob’s your uncle, our design was ready to print! It turned out to be a rather satisfying and surprisingly easy way to screen print. We used gold ink on navy card and we are pretty happy with the final results!
